Alex is an inspiring theatre sound designer and composer who has recently graduated from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. Through her studies, her love for 70s and 80s horror film composition and immersive theatre; Alex fell in love with hyper realistic sound design and the use of the mixture of synthizers and digital instruments in their sound design. With her experience in the technical side of theatre sound, Alex likes to use that technical knowledge and blend it with her creative practice to create an experience the audience will be thinking about in the pub later. When composing, Alex loves to a create world and evoke emotions out of their listeners. She believes if you can't listen to the piece without seeing the product it goes with, it is not good enough.
Born in Basildon, Essex and grew up in Suffolk; Alex has always had music surrounded by her. Her mum always made it a mission to be playing music while Alex was growing up, whether it was musicals, Drum & Bass, Garage, or 80s pop. At the age of 11, Alex started to get into pop-punk and metal, which lead to her getting her first guitar and starting to learn her first instrument. With getting into metal, come along the discovery of horror movies. Through horror movies, Alex gain a love for movie scores with their first love being the 1980 Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining". From then on, Alex was hooked on wanting to be a composer. It was Pantomimes doing that captured Alex's heart in wanting to be a theatre sound designer. After doing work experience shadowing a sound designer on a local pantomime, Alex fell in love with the particular timings sound effects have to be to create the humour that the showing is trying to portray and she also loves the unseriousness of pantomime surrounded by the seriousness of everyday theatre.
